In 2003, he was appointed as Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.  Since then he has built up a large practice both in the NHS and privately, dealing with patients with general ophthalmic complaints including performing small incision cataract surgery. His main sub-speciality interest is in Paediatric Ophthalmology (children’s eye disorders) and Strabismus. (squints)


Training in Ophthalmology

He qualified from Nottingham University Medical School in 1990. In 1992, he commenced training in Ophthalmology at St. James’s University, Leeds. His Registrar training was on the London rotation, working in hospitals including St. Georges’ University Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Following completion of his general ophthalmology training, he spent a further 2 years sub specialising as a Fellow in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Great Ormond Street Hospital and in the Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology Service at Moorfields Eye Hospital.


Sub-speciality Interest and Research

His main subspecialist interest is in Paediatric Ophthalmology and treating children and adults with squints and complex eye movement disorders. He is a leading expert in minimally invasive sqint surgery and is one of the few ophthalmologists in the country to offer microscope assisted minimally invasive small incision squint surgery.  He is also one of a few in the Essex region to offer adjustable sqint surgery to adults and Botulinum Toxin injections for the treatment of selected squints. His research interest is in the use of Botulinum Toxin for the management of squint and in complex adult strabismus and minimally invasive squint surgery.

He has regularly published in peer review journals and has presented his work at national and international meetings.

Mr Geh. is a regular trainer on squint surgery courses. He also runs an international training fellowships programme for senior ophthalmologists.  Previous fellows he has trained have come from countries such as India, Greece and Palestine.

 

Learned Societies

Mr. Geh is fully registered with the General Medical Council. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, a member of the British Isles Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Association (BIPOSA) He is a Member of the Moorfields Alumni Association and was previously council member of the Opthalmology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine.

He is a member of the Medical Advisory Committee to Southend Private Hospital.
